Sunday Apr 29/12 update
Insomnia. What a
curse. Even Bella said she was awake all
night. I was up most of the night and
sat at my window watching the sunrise this morning. There had been a light rain overnight and the
water droplets on the wires were just glistening. I sat with my camera trying to get more
hummingbird footage at my feeder and I was soon rewarded, many times! On my second video, I had to be calm because
one landed not two feet from my face on the rope holding the feeder. It was only for a few seconds but it was
exciting to see one that close up. He
quickly went to the feeder and picked the best flower to give me a dynamite
video. Then he kept coming back. I was hooked.

Sitting at the window for hours, watching the birds wake up
and call and chase each other was a rewarding experience. We have such a great vantage point from up here. From white doves to the speedy hummingbirds,
it is truly a pleasure to behold.

I was having a devil of a time trying to get some nice still
photographs until I decided to be a real photographer and use some manual
settings. 1/2000th of a
second shutter speed works good for those fast wingbeats of the hummers. After eight hours of looking out the window I
decided to give this exercise a rest for a while. It sure is addictive though, trying to get a
great photo and video.
Bella went off to meet Chris & Bettye and another couple
at the Kookaburra Café for lunch. I am
going to have a well-deserved nap very shortly.
