Monday Apr 30/12 update
Today is Spanish class day. As usual, I am early so I take a few shots along the Tomebamba of Todos Santos church and the Broken Bridge. I go off in the morning and pretend to learn something which I seem to forget within 10 seconds.
One of my classmates, Paul, from California, joined me for lunch afterwards at the Sabor Latino and he agreed that that was the best almuerzo lunch in Ecuador for a whole $1.75. Then we walked over to Parque Calderon to enjoy this beautiful sunshiny day and to people watch. I showed him a few of my shots from this morning and he asked me to email him some of them. Paul is a former salesman for Josten’s, the school photo and yearbook people. Oh, the life of the retired…..
I then walked over to the Rotary Market to get some huge wooden spoons for Bettye and Chris. Rotary Market has the best wooden products in town.
Then I got off the #50 early to check out the computer desk prices at Gran Aki for Chris. He likes my computer desk so I took a picture of the price tag for him.
Upon arrival at home I saw the hummers try to approach the feeder but it was crammed with those darned wasps so I got mad and hosed the bejeebers out them nuisances but they just come back mad. I tried really jiggling the feeder to chase them away but all I succeeded in doing was sending the feeder crashing to the ground. There were only about 3 wasps that made the trip down with it so I bravely went out and rescued it. I brought it in and rinsed it out and I only see one crack in the cowling for the flowers so I lucked out?
The wasps and the hummers are still trying to check out the big pink flower which I have pulled up right next to my window. I just watched a hummer from about 18 inches away. I am hooked on those guys. Their sharp chirp, chirp, chirp, just beckons me now constantly.
I discovered the feeder was broken in 3 pieces but I decided to see what happened if I just put the base on my windowsill next to the huge silk flower that had attracted the hummers earlier. Here is the result in the first 10 minutes. I somehow managed to trim one video and combine it with a second one with a Nero program…

Bella went shopping this morning, then this afternoon to deliver her loom to the lady she sold it to, then to Spanish class. I really wish i could relate some of the stories I heard today but we must be discreet and protect the innocent.
Enjoy the pics and the video. That was today’s excitement. Hugs to all.
