HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely wife Bella. May she have many, many more.
Bella was up and gone early for some “fasting” tests prior
to her surgery tomorrow, then she was off to her Bridge Club. It is still so mind-boggling how a surgery can be scheduled here in 2 days when it is closer to 500 days in Canada....
I had lots of chores today and they took several hours to
complete, photos, plants, dishes, clothes washing, etc.
My plan was to get out earlier today but Bella left me
instructions to haul these bottles of vinegar etc to the other side of the city
so that negated any lengthy walking around because those things are darn heavy. I didn't get away early anyway.
We ended up at Mark & Karen’s new condo for a Birthday
supper for Bella. It is nice that some
folks are so good at celebrating special events whereas we are tending to
ignore most of these celebrations as we get older. But there was a glitch, their stove is not
hooked up yet, so they took us out for supper.
First we went to the gorgeous Mansion Alcazar on Bolivar but
they did not open until 7pm. We sure enjoyed
looking at their courtyards though, heavenly… Don’t forget that this is right in
the center of the city! http://mansionalcazar.com/en/ Note they have a Trip Advisor Travelers’
Choice Award this year!
So we trudged down to Avenida Borero, north of the Post
Office to Carbon, a steak restaurant that Chris & Bettye had told us
about. They had such neat old plaques
and posters on the walls. The menu was tremendous
and the food was wonderful! We’ll
definitely go back there again!
Imagine, 400g of Lomo Fino (Filet Mignon/Tenderloin), that’s almost 1 lb
of beef, that just melted in your mouth for $10.95. My tummy is hurting right now, but it is a
good hurt.
Bella would not let me take her photo for her birthday,
sorry, but she was not feeling well and had had a very busy day.
That was the day's
excitement, Cheers, Al Please see all new photos at http://souvenircuenca.blogspot.com/
