Don’t know what was wrong but I just tossed and turned and
finally gave up at 3am and went down to watch a movie. Some of those movies I had picked up weren’t
keepers so I was glad to have them sorted before I went to the Book Exchange
today.
First we had another meeting with Villa San Carlos to review
and clarify their offerings for our proposed Christmas Gala for Hearts Of Gold,
tentatively set for December 6. We have
to present this to the “Board” next week so we wanted to be sure we had the
straight goods. We tweaked the menu a
bit and made sure everyone was on the same page for a lot of items that didn’t
show up in the original quote, and eliminated a lot of boilerplate items
mentioned in that quote that were not germane.
We feel a lot better about it now so mark your calendars, as we are
pretty sure that everyone will agree with our findings. We have some ideas for a sort of theme for the
night but would welcome any suggestions.
While I was there I had to pick up some special vinegars
that Villa San Carlos is able to provide.
I can’t wait to try them out.
I made it to the Book Exchange at the Windhorse Café and
exchanged my Dan Brown book as well as two movies. When I got downstairs my buddy Cork was there so we had
a long chat. Cork
is a former Las Vegas
comic and always good to keep a conversation going. I am OK with that because I am not good with
small talk and am quite happy to listen to others carry the ball, as long as
they are not repeating things over and over.
I decided to go down the Escalinata and catch the #15 home
and went by the CIDAP
Museum but the darn place
was closed again, at 11:30am??!! Can’t
figure that one out!! The building
however is just gorgeous and photogenic.
Then looking over Parque De La Madre I noted that Turi was catching a
ray of sunshine so that was a great shot to grab. At the bus stop this indigenous lady was
wearing all the trapping of her tribe, so I did manage 3 photos in total
today….
I came home and did laundry and decided to try to catch Tom
Thumb if possible but he is not cooperating much today.
Darn it, one of the movies I picked up was a duplicate of
one I have already… That happens
occasionally when you get old and can’t remember all the over 300 titles already
in your possession.
Bella called that she had been to the doctor’s and was on
her way to a hospital for blood-work, etc.
She said her blood pressure was almost non-existent after all that
vomiting and diarrhea so she wasn’t sure when she would get home. She also has a fallen bladder problem that
is inherited and would get that checked because that is probably a contributing
factor in her recent sickness..
Bella called back to say the options are to wait to get
surgery in Canada in maybe a year and a half, and spend $1300 on airfares, or
get the surgery done here on Thursday for $1600. Gee, that is a no-brainer don’t you
think?? We have not heard one complaint
about the Health Care here, and usually nothing but raves. Heck the doctors even still do house calls
here. It may be like the 50’s here in
many respects but the Health Care is definitely top-notch.
We still have not had a response from Tripod regarding our
web-forwarding problems so that is very frustrating.
That was the day's excitement, Cheers, Al Please see all new photos at http://souvenircuenca.blogspot.com/
