24/13 update #349
I slipped
in early today to see Mom in Calgary and had to take a few shots of the Rockies
on the horizon because they are just so magnificent with a coat of snow.Mom asked me to take her photo because she had gotten all dressed up. I have to admit she looks pretty darn good for a 96-year-old. She still has a sharp mind but shows a few signs of creeping dementia in her little bouts of nastiness which cause a lot of grief for my dear sister Leonie who bears the brunt of these attacks. I wish there was something that could be done to relieve this.
Anyway I took Mom out in the car on a beautiful day with the temperature near the freezing mark. She likes our Park Avenue for its leather seats and grab handles so she can easily swing herself into the car. We didn’t go very far because her heart was set on having a Meateor Pizza at Boston Pizza, only a couple of blocks away. We were the only patrons at 11:30 so we got immediate service and we really enjoyed the Meateor, but not the $30 price tag.
Leonie came over for a short visit upon my arrival at home and then I had a scheduled visit from our plumbers to do the annual servicing on our furnace and humidifier. The young plumber, Kirk from GM Mechanical, was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and thorough. He also gave me the lowest bill ever for such a cleaning so I was very pleased.
The deer continue to frequent our back yard and give me some photo opportunities, which I carefully take advantage of without disturbing their activities. I also did some work on that photo of the deer with the rabbit 2 days ago and I hope you like the result.
There may be no blog for the next couple of days as I head to Wetaskiwin and Edmonton to visit with my kids and grandkids.
That was today’s excitement. Hugs to all. Please see all photos at http://souvenircuenca.blogspot.com/
