Friday June 22, 2012

Friday June 22/12 update
Nothing much happening today.   Pancho was whining and whining at my closed door this morning  and that made any further sleep impossible.
I spent 5 hours uploading photos, interrupted by 4 internet outages.  I tried calling the English-speaking David at Etapa and actually got through today!   He had been away on holidays so that is why I had been unsuccessful the last 2 weeks.   He promised to check and call me back.
About 2 hours later he called me to say they were having city-wide problems with their system which was very slow everywhere.  They did electronically check our line and indeed discovered a problem with the second stage copper line outside our home.  They promised to try to get a repair crew out today, or maybe tomorrow.  Since it would be better that we are here, just in case, I am forced to sit here this afternoon.   Time for a nap!
I did manage to get a couple of colorful shots of Mr Tom Thumb today which help to show off his pretty colours.   In the one shot where he is feeding you can really see the tongue right into the nectar.
Etapa called around 3 and I understood they would be here in 5 or 10 minutes.  45 minutes later they show up.  They do a bunch of testing then we have no Internet at all for over ½ an hour.   Finally he bypasses the wireless router that we brought from Canada and everything is fine again.   The modem works fine but our router is now toast according to them, and they leave.
IMPORTANT:  This means Bella will have no Internet access, no email, and we will have no NetTalk either until we can get a new wireless router installed.   We will let you know when this gets accomplished, probably not before Monday….   You will have to contact us via albellaecuador@gmail.com and on Skype.   Bella will no doubt use my computer to get caught up on her emails occasionally.
Enjoy the pics.    That was today’s excitement.    Hugs to all.
