Sunday Mar 18/12 update
We both got up early to do our many chores to receive a
houseful of company. I did much
vacuuming and cleaning and dishes while Bella concentrated on cooking. She is really going to put on a spread with
mostly dishes made from scratch. From
croutons to lemon meringue pie, she is a wizard in the kitchen.
I have been doing multiple updates to my informational Blog
I wrote about yesterday at cuencaresidency.blogspot.com. Every time I turn around there is another
detail that I think of adding. I see it
is getting a few hits so that is encouraging.
It was/is a ton of work, but a labour of love.
Well, it is now almost 9 and we thoroughly enjoyed the
company of Jorge, Marta, Gabriela, and Matteo Beltran, along with Michael,
Joanna and Ivana Berger. We had been
planning this get-together for a month or so but wanted to get the finishing
touches in place first.
Marta is 53, a physical therapist in a hospital as well as a
University professor in medical diagnostics. Her daughter, Gabriela is 23 and in four
months will soon be graduating as a doctor as well. Matteo is still a student. Jorge, of course, is the architect who built
our house and supervised most of the renovations. This supper was to further cement our
friendship and to say Thank You for all his hard work. Marta and Jorge have a married 24-year-old
son who has blessed them with 2 grandchildren already.
Michael is our real estate advisor who has also done a lot
of work on our behalf. He speaks
reasonable Spanish and helps translate.
His wife Joanna speaks no English at all.
We had to apologize that we were pushing our limits with
mismatched dishes and cutlery, even having to wash all the plates and spoons
for use for dessert. Jorge had a good
appetite and ate well. I didn’t think I
ate that much but I am a hurting unit right now. Bella really put out a heckuva meal tonight.
It was interesting that Jorge and Matteo said they were in
the Christmas Eve parade. Now I have to
check my YouTube movies to see if I caught them or not.
That was today’s excitement.
