Saturday June 23/12 update
Bella was supposed to have the neighborhood family coming
over at 11:00 for help with their English homework, etc. She now has a whiteboard to help with her
translator machine to get the proper meanings across to the students. Around 11:15 the youngest one came to tell
her they had a family function and could not attend today but would return next
week.
I was awake early and spent most of the morning trying to
entice Tom Thumb in spite of drizzly weather.
I got a couple of neat shots but it wasn’t bright enough to bump up my
shutter speed above 1/1,000th of a second for a long time. I chanced a few shots later at 1/2000th
to get better stop action on the wings, but I am still looking for shots in
better lighting conditions.
The drizzle leaves water droplets hanging from the
rubber-coated wires outside and this is really quite pretty. There are some reflections in the droplets
but, even at 40x zoom, I can’t get close enough to really show them off.
I still haven’t heard back from JD’s about my proposed
tour. Maybe they saw that TerraDiversa
had posted a smaller but similar tour yesterday on GringoTree for $43 a head
including everything, and on the day that I was proposing too. They kinda stole our thunder. I am
trying to get a real all-day photography tour for about the same price per head
but now I’ll have to pick another date, if they ever get back to me. I may have to remove my endorsement of these
guys on my other blog. I am never impressed
when people don’t get back to you as promised.
We are heading to Joe’s Secret Garden
for supper again. There is a fish-fry
tonight so I am looking forward to that.
I assume Joseph is going to insist I take pictures again so maybe I can
trade services for working on a new wireless router (Joseph is also a computer
guru). We were to meet Chris and Bettye
there but unfortunately that isn’t going to happen. The good news is that Bettye is finally
getting better. I will post photos tomorrow.
