Sunday Feb 5/12 update
There will be no great blog today. It is a day of rest and relaxation. I can’t remember the last time I went back to
bed and slept until 2pm. Bella is busy
working on her rugs, blankets, and cat runners.
I did do a few minor modifications to the roof tiles above the terrace
to make things easier tomorrow. Of
course I cut myself again, in five places.
The Super Bowl was on later, not that I watch American
football, but it was a treat to watch it here, even with Spanish commentators.
Then we had the pizza I had bought at Costto for supper, and it mostly good-grade cardboard..
Monday Feb 6/12 update
Today was just plain frustration day. Awake at 3 and got up at 5. Then it is 8am and no roof guys. At 8:15 Enrique calls and asks “Are the boys
there yet?” When I respond negatively he
says he’ll be right over. At 10:30 I am
pissed and phone him, telling him I am going to charge back all the wasted time
they are causing me. He says they are
cutting the glass and they will be here at 1pm.
Yeah sure, they will go eat before they come so I know that is another
lie.
Bella and I decide to slip out to do our banking, moving
some money from Pichincha to Coopera to get 10.5% interest. I am home at 1pm on the dot, and no roof guys anywhere to be seen.
They show up around 3pm and have a roll of screen meant to
stop B-52’s, but maybe not Piper Cubs.
They were a little cranky when I told them we did not agree to any other
screen. We want the same screen as we had
them install on the existing windows.
OK, they say they will be back in 30 minutes, but naturally we add
another hour to that.. They come back
with more needed support bars and some strapping but no glass and no screen. I help the guy put up all the remaining
support bars except for two on the west side.
At 6pm he is scooting out the door promising to be back at 8am and to
finish all the work, they will screen in the morning and put up the glass in
the afternoon.
In the midst of this non-day we had Michael check a few
things for us. First he got Jorge to
stop by with two pints of paint for touch-ups.
Second he checked with the
Internet people and they are booked to come tomorrow, although they can’t
guarantee to be here by 8am when Xavier the computer guy is supposed to be here
(hopefully to translate). Third he
checked with the stove people and they have ordered a new clock which should be
here in a couple of days. Actually they
just called to say they will be here tomorrow morning at 8:30. Bella will want to talk to them about a new
oven light problem too….
Tomorrow promises to be a busy day as we try to get the last
of this construction done before our hired cleaning ladies come in Wednesday
morning.
Still no rest for the wicked. We must be really bad.
That was today’s excitement.
. Hugs to all.
